Alberta Daniel Higgins

ALBERTA DANIEL HIGGINS, 88 of Little Rock, Ark., passed peacefully from this world on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018. She was born in Grady, Ark., on March 25, 1929. Alberta Higgins was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and a dear friend to many. Her proudest accomplishments included raising five sons and five daughters, Her Christian faith guided her throughout her life. She was a faithful lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church at 1851 Howard Street, Little Rock, Ark. Educated in the Grady School District in Grady, Ark. Member of the Unique Social Club since 2002 until her death, Founder and President of The Golden Links Club at New Hope Baptist Church. Alberta loved all that life had to offer. She enjoyed hosting parties at her home. She was very fashionable and socialable with family and friends. Alberta especially loved playing "biz whiz" cards and loved to watch basketball games, she would say "I Love This Games!' Alberta is preceded in death by her parents George and Pearlie Rainey Daniel; husband, Calvin Higgins Jr.; two sons, Alvin and Malvin Higgins; two brothers, George and Jerry Daniel. She is survived by one sister, Luberta (Jacob) Profit; three sons, Jameel Mahdi Little Rock, Dr. Abuwi Mahdi and Adib (Donna) Mahdi, San Diego, Calif.; and five daughters, Fatimah Akbar-Baird, Carolyn Yancy, Darlene (Leonard) Jones, Rasheedah Madinah, San Diego, Calif., and Allene Higgins; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. A celebration of her life will be Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, 11 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, 1-4 p.m., both services at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 S.
