Barbara Jean Whitaker

Barbara Jean Whittaker, of Nashville, Tenn. Jan. 24, 2018. Barbara moved on to her heavenly home after a brave, hard fought battle with cancer. Preceded in death by her husband, Coach Bill Whittaker; her parents, James Kennedy Jennings and Carlene Bowers Jennings. Survived by brother, James Kennedy (Debbie) Jennings Jr.; nephews, Jason & Brandon Jennings; niece, Kayla Ignatz; great-nephews, Jackson & Jacob; son, Derek Whittaker; her special friend, Paul M. Blume; long-time friend/caregiver, Diane (Joey) Journell; and George, her beloved rag doll, Kitty. Barbara lived a very full passionate life. Barbara's passion was her beautiful singing voice. She sang with the praise and worship team from Radnor Baptist Church & Sunset Hills Baptist Church for many years. Barbara's real estate career and her love for the Lord were always intertwined. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 29, 2018, from 2-7 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, and Monday 10-11 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hills Baptist Church, 1635 Sunset Road, Brentwood, by Rev. Steve Durham & Rev. Greg Dunn. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
