Bernice Merriweather Stewart

BERNICE MERRIWEATHER STEWART, 88, of Little Rock transitioned peacefully into eternity in her home Jan. 23, 2018, embraced in the love of her family. She was a stalwart Christian, lifelong member of New Hebron MBC, wife for 57 years to the late Eddie Stewart, and mother of 10, three of whom preceded her in death. She worked in her home to make it a place of comfort and beauty for her family, and she worked outside the home to help provide for their large family. She leaves cherished memories with her son, Ronnie Stewart (Juanita); daughters, Doris Proctor, Bettye Tappin, Sheryl Merriweather, Regina Stewart-Hampton (Rev. Reginald), Rhonda Kay Stewart, and Sandra Stewart; 22 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Obsequies for Mrs. Stewart will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, Holy Cross MBC, 4800 W. 12th Street. Family hour will be 6-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, also at Holy Cross. Arrangements entrusted to Walton GateWay Funeral Chapel, "Where Caring and Quality Come First", 2405 S. Gaines.
