Jesse N. Masters

JESSE N. MASTERS of Sherwood passed away on January 25. He was born Feb. 10, 1926 in Newport, Ark., the son of Norma Smith Masters and Jesse N. Masters Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Harvey Masters, his mother, his father, his sister Gladys Sanford and step father, Dr. A.L. Best. He is survived by a son, Mark Harvey Masters, his wife Lorraine of Sherwood and their daughters Bailey Dietrich [Blake] and Casey Masters and her partner Jon Hill, and great grandson Brewer Dietrich; a daughter Jan Masters Yon [Stephen] of Lexington, Kentucky and their son and daughter Jesse and Isabel Yon, a cousin Mary Masters and niece, Judith Long. Mr. Masters was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA). He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during WW II and was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict. He retired from Little Rock District Corps of Engineers after 32 years of service. He was an ardent hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. At his request he will be cremated, with private burial.
