Joseph Jacob Pollack, 20 years old, died January 29, 2018. He was the son of Dr. Michael Marion Pollock and Marcia Ellis Pollock. Joe attended Catholic High School for Boys and later the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and in Little Rock. While in Fayetteville he was on the Dean's List, the Chancellor's List, and was invited and received into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He was successfully pursuing a degree in Engineering. Joe and his older brother had an intense interest in rock music and with friends formed a band, playing the bass guitar, drums, and six-string in venues around Little Rock. They played at Whitewater Tavern, Vino's, and once at Harvestfest in Hillcrest for $275, they used the money for music recordings. They played for several years until college came along and consumed most of their time. Joe was also adventuresome, sometimes to a fault. He tried a ski jump on Aspen Mountain one time with one of his more proficient friends and almost landed in the ER. Skateboarding and trick biking on his "little bike" would almost always result in scrapes and scratches. He enjoyed going to El Dorado to visit his cousins and family. An avid golfer, often times playing with his cousins but most of his enjoyment came from outdoor hunting adventures. He loved most the duck woods with his father (but most of all his favorite lab) where he would spend days exploring on 4 wheelers. He went deer hunting at age 14 and got a nice 8 point all by himself. He has hiked up every mountain in west Pulaski County. Joe was a truly warmhearted person, was devoted to his family, and was loved by the people close to him and to everyone that knew him. Joe is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jacob P. Ellis, MD, a European theatre WWII veteran, and fraternal grandmother, Eileen Buerkle Pollock, an English monarchy enthusiast, he enjoyed countless games of gin rummy with her. Joe is survived by his brother, Michael Pollock Jr., his uncle, Clarence F. Pollock, III, aunt, Harriett Pollock, cousins, William and Foster Pollock all from Little Rock; his uncle, James P. Ellis, cousins, Alexandra and Corrine from El Dorado; his aunt, Linda Crow, uncle, Robert Crow from Atlanta; his uncle Jack Crowder from Arlington, Virginia. A funeral mass will be at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 31st. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the foyer of the church. Arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
