Jerry David Cottingham, 80 of Benton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2018. He was born in Prescott, Arkansas on November 22, 1937 to the late Dave and Thelma Cottingham. Jerry was a family man, his love and dedication for his wife of 57 years, Catherine, was a testament to marriage. His family was his world. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Thelma Cottingham, sisters, Geneva Boyd and Mary Lou Grimes. He was an Iron Worker for over 40 years and was a member of the Local Iron Workers Union #321 for over 57 years and a member of the Army National guard for 13 years. Jerry belonged to the Brushy Creek Hunting Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved camping and spending time with family and friends. He could tell a story like nobody else with such detail and passion, you would begin to think you were there. He loved the Razorbacks, Cardinals, Cowboys, Curley Wolves, Hornets and Nascar. His favorite pastime was visiting with family and friends; he had a nickname for everyone. Jerry never met a stranger and loved children. Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Catherine Cottingham, sons, James "Jim" (Tammy) Cottingham of Benton, Mike (Tammy) Cottingham of Bryant, daughter, Sheri (Waymon) Burnett of Benton, brother, Tommy Cottingham,(Sharon), Arkadelphia: sisters Betty Riley, North Little Rock; Joyce Floyd, Prescott; Lila Lowe, Mansfield, Texas; and Ladon Woolverton, Sherwood; grandchildren, Karissa (Ryan) Witherspoon, Philip Cottingham, Stephanie Cottingham Harper, Natalie and Gracie Burnett, Jeff (Tabitha) Cottingham, great grandchildren, Sierra, Alexis and Devin Harper, Jaxton and Taylee Cottingham. Chapel services will be 10: a.m. at Ashby Funeral Home on July 5, 2018 with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Prescott, Arkansas. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. before services at Ashby's on July 5, 2018. Memorials may be made to National Aphasia Association online or P.O.
