Hugh Patrick Costello

Hugh Patrick "Pat" Costello III, age 71, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident. Born in Georgetown, S.C. on December 1, 1946, he was a son of the late Hugh Patrick Costello Jr. and Margherita Victoria Marus Costello. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1958 and was a graduate of Subiaco Academy. During the Vietnam War, Pat served as a boiler operator on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. For 40 years, he was employed by International Paper Company was the power plant operator at the time of his retirement. He later worked for Calpine Corporation in the power plant. A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pat was a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a past-president of the Subiaco Alumni Association, and volunteered at Camp Subiaco for many years. He was a past-president of the Quarter Century Society. Also, he served as a past-president and current member of the Board of Directors of Fairfield Federal Credit Union. Special Olympics was dear to his heart, and he served as a volunteer for Area 9 for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry Boyce Costello, who died on June 2, 2018; an infant sister, Margherita Ester Costello; and two brothers, Paul Costello and Terry Costello. Survivors include two sons, Justin Costello and Scott Costello (Karen); a daughter, Patty King (Joel); three brothers, Mike Costello, Danny Costello (Brenda), and Tim Costello (Sandy); four grandchildren, Samantha McMinn, Courtney Davis, Kaylin Costello, and Oliver King; along with many other loving family and friends. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 20, 2018, 11: a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jerome Kodell, Father Joseph Marconi, and Deacon Noel F. "Bud" Bryant officiating. A reception will follow in Gallagher Hall at the church. There will be a Rosary service Thursday, 5:30 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel.
