Walter Kalman Paph

Walter Kalman Paph, age 89, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born on August 19, 1928, in Woods County, Oklahoma, to Kalman and Florence (Shed) Paph. He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Henry Paph, Raymond Paph, and E. Eugene Paph; and three sisters, Alma Massey, Stella Lorence, and Nadene Means. Walter served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Cimmarron from the end of WWII until November of 1947. He then went to work at Tractor Supply Co. in Wichita, Kansas, followed by a 21-year career at Garnette Auto Supply also located in Wichita. The last four of those years were spent as President of Garnette Auto Supply / Jobbers Automotive. Walter owned a cattle ranch in Vilonia, Arkansas, for 10 years. He spent five years living in Pensacola, Florida, and moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1986. Walt loved his family, traveling, reading, square dancing, playing cards, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and working on his family's genealogy. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Bonnie Paph of the home; his two children, Susan Wagner and husband Gil of Shawnee, Kansas, and Roger Paph and wife Anna Rose of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one brother, Jim Paph of Alva, Oklahoma; two sister, Mary Ann Collie of Wichita, Kansas, and Louise Willis of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Mary Jonscher and husband Charles of Shawnee, Kansas, Matthew Wagner of Denver, Colorado, Gwen Fayette of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Katherine Paph-Rose of Omaha, Nebraska; and two great-grandchildren, Madeline G. Jonscher and Cade W. Jonscher.
