Betty June Schulenburg was born in Los Angeles, California to Dr. Harold and Elizabeth Schulenburg on October 11, 1927. Throughout her early years, she lived with her parents in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Modesto, California. It was in Modesto that she found her one true love in secondary school. His name was Milton Leon Hibdon and after graduating from Modesto High School in 1945, Milt and June were wed on August 4, 1946. June went on to Modesto Junior College where she studied Business. And overtime, became the Office Manager for the Modesto Credit Union. June and Milt became the proud parents of Robert Milton in 1948 and then Dennis Leon in 1952. After having a budding career in radio broadcasting in Modesto, Milt was offered a position with a radio station in Hawaii and in 1962, the Hibdon family moved to Oahu. Throughout her life, June had many amazing experiences and fond memories. As Milt's career evolved, after 11 years in Hawaii they moved to Montreal, Canada in 1973. They relocated again in 1976 and had dual residences in New York City and upstate New York. Milt and June enjoyed traveling all over the world and sometimes on the Concorde. They visited various places such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, Iran, London, Paris, Italy, Germany and many more (too many to name) between 1976 and 1989. Mom loved traveling and experiencing new locations, cultures and different shopping venues. They also attended many notable events such as Ronald Reagan's inauguration and ball. Reminiscing about that experience, June recalls how elegant and gracious Nancy Reagan was. Between 1987 and 1989, June was the proud business owner of June's Gifts, a beautifully appointed gift store specializing in gift baskets and assorted gifts in Fayetteville, New York. She recalls how much fun it was to create the gift baskets for individuals and businesses in the community. After Milt's death in 1989, June and long-time friend Edward Pakstis travelled by RV across the United States looking for the perfect place to retire. It was on this journey that they happened upon Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1993 and decided to call it home. June passed on May 26, 2018, at the Circle of Life Legacy Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. June is preceded in death by her father Harold Schulenberg, mother Elizabeth Bowman Schulenberg, and husband Milton Leon Hibdon. June is survived by her son Dennis Hibdon and his wife, Joni Hibdon, granddaughters Allyson Hibdon and Elizabeth Teklits. June is also survived by her son Robert Hibdon and grandsons Adam Hibdon and Daniel Hibdon, and her cousins Richard and Robert Schulenberg. June has been loved and will be missed by her dear friends and community in the Benton County area, in addition to friends in other parts of the country. She will be most remembered for the generosity of her heart and other gifts to those she loved, her love and care of all animals, her passion for continuing to build her knowledge, her joy of gardening, and her deep faith in Jesus. June has been laid to rest in the Bella Vista Memorial Garden Cemetery.
