RICHARD "MACKIE" MCDONALD, 72, passed away on May 28, 2018, in Little Rock from complications following a stroke. Mackie was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 3, 1945, to Arliss and Eloise McDonald. He was a 1963 graduate of North High School. He embraced fatherhood, attained the rank of Sergeant in the US Army Reserves, and launched his insurance career before pursuing his true calling as a sports industry professional. Career highlights included 15 years with the Arena Football League including the Arkansas Twisters. He retired in Little Rock, where he worked at the Burns Park Golf Course and was recently awarded the Arkansas Traveler distinction. A proud and doting father; father-in-law; and grandfather, Mackie was also a loyal and cherished friend to many. Mackie was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his brother, Timothy (Nancy) McDonald of Virginia; son, Kevin (Lani) McDonald of Iowa; and grandchildren, Jared and Ava.
