Dorothy Burrow Powell

DOROTHY BURROW POWELL, 84, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, in Little Rock. She was born June 29, 1933, daughter of the late Lester E. Burrow, Sr. and Nell Weir Burrow. She was also preceded in death by brothers Lester E. Burrow, Jr. and Frank Miles Burrow. Dorothy loved her family and many friends. She was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church, serving as an usher and greeter and volunteering in the church office. Playing bridge weekly brought her joy and was always willing to fill in when needed. She was co-founder of the "Poor Old Things Trump & Travel Bridge Club" which was founded in 1961. She volunteered at St. Vincent's Hospital and UAMS for many years. She is survived by her children Cliff Powell (Susie) of Coppell, Texas, and Caren Marvin of Dickson, Tenn. She is also survived by grandchildren Matthew, Jake and Courtney Powell and Amber (Shane) and Ashley Marvin and Great Granddaughter Riley Anne Rosson, sister in laws Marlyn Burrow, Cheryl Burrow and several nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly. She was blessed to have had a best friend, Nancy Weber (Harlan) for over 60+ years, who was always there for her, especially this past year and will always be cherished for her friendship. Much appreciation and many thanks to the 2nd floor staff at Briarwood for their compassion and care that was shown towards our Mother. Memorials can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Services will be at 2nd Presbyterian Church in Little Rock on Tuesday, June 5th, at 11:00am. Dorothy was a true servant of God and lived her life joyfully, never complaining and eager to help others in any way she could, living a life well lived.
