Dr. Eldon Gerald Schulz, 64, passed away Saturday June 2, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Margaret Ann Brink Schulz; daughter, Kestin Margaret Schulz and son-in-law, John Christie of Hillsboro, Oregon; daughter, Kari Loretta Schulz of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister, Dr. Marlys Schulz Luebke and nephew, Austin of Corsica, South Dakota; and niece, Sarah of Boston, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Mavis, brother-in-law, Douglas Luebke, and brother-in-law, George Brink. Born May 10th, 1954 in Parkston, South Dakota to Erich and Loretta (Brech) Schulz. Eldon received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Idaho, Moscow, his MD from the University of South Dakota, his Residency of Pediatrics from the University of California, San Diego, his Developmental/Ambulatory Pediatric Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Worcester. He spent 6 years with Margaret in Heidelberg, Germany working with the Exceptional Family Member Service as a civil servant in the military. Margaret and Eldon moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1991.There, he became the Professor of Developmental Pediatrics at UAMS. During his time at UAMS, he supported numerous programs including the James L. Dennis Developmental Center, CoBALT, LEND,Easter Seals, the State's Human Development Centers, and DHS. In 2008, he received the Rockefeller Endowed Chair for Children with Special Needs. He was an advocate for children and families affected by developmental disabilities, a bright star, a wonderful husband and father, an ideal older brother, a supportive uncle. He had a deep regard for all people, always actively listening, and he made everyone feel important. He had a great zest for life. A pre-service reception will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 5th, at Grace Lutheran Church followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock.
