Pete Commer

Pete Commer Sr., 88, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018. Born Henry Townsend Commer Sr. November 13, 1929, at Ferda, Arkansas, he was a son of the late William J. Commer and Isla Baggarly Commer. Pete was reared and received his education in Pine Bluff and was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School. Mr. Commer served in the Korean War with the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He worked for the International Paper Mill as an Accounting Clerk for 37 years. Pete was a member of Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church where he served on the Pastor Relations Committee. He also coached Little League for BRT and Norton Motors. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Hooker Commer in 1975; brothers, Reverend William "Bill" Commer, Jake B. Commer, I.M. "PeeWee" Commer and Thomas H. "Tommy" Commer; and sister, JoEllen Thomas. He is survived by his children, Deborah Ann Easterly (Wayne), Henry T. "Towny" Commer Jr., Karen Sue Lingreen (Rick), Kimberly Jo Scallion (Leon); grandchildren, Stephanie Hayslip (Michael), Stacy Johnson (Jason), Jordan Lingreen, Josh Lingreen, Taylor Lingreen, Haleigh Hudgins (Scott), Hayden Scallion; great grandchildren, Amelia, Ainsley and Jackson Johnson. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Tom Smithwick officiating. Interment will follow in Hooker Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Robinson's.
