Ruth Jean Bacon

Ruth Jean Wilson Bacon of Fayetteville died June 7, 2018. She was 98 years old. She was born July 14, 1919, in Iola, Kan., to Anna Maude Harp and Marion Lozelle Wilson. She married Raymond Arthur Bacon in Iola on April 3, 1944. The couple farmed south of Moran, Kan., then moved to New Plymouth, Idaho, in the mid-1950s. She was a full-time wife, mother and farm hand until a divorce sent her back into the work force in 1967. After returning to Iola in 1968, she was a bookkeeper for several businesses, notably Boyer Oil Co., before retiring to Fayetteville in 1986. She is survived by one daughter and one granddaughter, and many friends, especially Rosie McCarter and Heidi Wells, both of whom she loved as family.
