Bobby W. Johnson

Bobby W. Johnson, age 86, of Warren, Ark., died Tuesday, June 19, at Chapel Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born February 13, 1932, in Warren, Ark., a son of the late Oscar Plez Johnson and Ouida Quimby Johnson. On June 13, 1954, he was married to Peggy Vestal Johnson, in the First Baptist Church, Warren, by Rev. Geral Trussell, they were the first couple married in that sanctuary. Peggy preceded him in death on July 5, 2007. Bobby attended L.S.U., playing football for the Tigers and was a graduate of Arkansas A&M (now University of Arkansas at Monticello). He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a paratrooper in the Korean War. He retired as a high school football coach serving for 21 years in the Earle, Camden and Warren Public School Systems. He also was a retired owner-operator of Johnson Hardware, a member and deacon of First Baptist Church. Survivors are one son, Rob Johnson and spouse Dana of Warren, Ark.; one daughter Penney Phifer of Camden, Ark.; three grandchildren Hunter Wayne Johnson and spouse Katie of Little Rock, Ark., Brittney Nicole Johnson of El Dorado, Ark., and Jamie Taylor Furman of Camden, Ark.; two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 22, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Stanley officiating. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Visitation will be start at 9 a.m. Friday, June 22, at First Baptist Church extending until service time.
