GARLAND CARROLL HOUSER, 81, formerly of Lonoke, went to be with the Lord, June 22, 2018. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959, where he received a Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed both in Alaska and California for two years each. While serving in Alaska, in the 392nd transportation Squadron, SAC, Carroll was among a total of 120 men and one white German shepherd dog to defend and protect Alaska from outside forces. He was very proud of this and told his children many stories. Carroll did various jobs in his life, but the last was a driver for J.B. Hunt. He received his one million mile plaque in 1996, and was almost two million when he retired. He loved his family, his dog, Shorty, fishing, hunting, watching football and westerns on TV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston & Lola Jestine Houser; wife, Margaret Houser; grandson, Jerry Don Houser; sisters, Pat Duncan & Dorothy Harrison Wilson. He is survived by his children; daughter, Linda Sorenson (Lawrence), sons, Donald Houser (Liz) and David Houser (Betty Jo); five sisters, Jewel Miller, Judy Hocutt, Barbara Hill, Betty Dorsey and Regina Cox; three grandsons, Austin Houser, Lawrence and Chris Sorenson and too many nieces and nephews to list. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 26th in Hester Cemetery. Online Guestbook, www.boydfuneralhome.net.
