Daisy Dean Calico Delaney

Daisy Dean Calico Delaney, 95, of Manteca, California, passed away on February 22, 2018 at home where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law. Daisy was born in Clifty, Arkansas to John Calvin Calico and Tenny Bell Mundell Calico on June 11, 1922. She attended school in a one-room school house in Clifty and worked on the family farm with her father and brothers. She moved to Southern California in 1946 and later lived in Barstow, California for 29 years before moving to Manteca 5 years ago. She worked in food service for schools and hospitals for 30 years. She was a Christian since an early age. She enjoyed cooking and embroidering and loved her family most of all. Daisy is preceded in death by her parents and her six brothers Arvel Calico, Theodore Calico, Jewel Calico, Otto Calico, Oval Calico, Jack Calico, a daughter, Carmelita Ann Fitch, and her late husband Jack Delaney. Daisy is survived by her two sons, Gene Fitch (Patt) of Prairie Grove, Arkansas and Jerry Wasserman (Ginger) of Apple Valley, California, two daughters Norma Faye Clark (Paul) of Barren Springs, Virginia and Shirley Hausafus (Robert) of Manteca, California, two stepsons Tim Yeager and Jim Bowman. She is also survived by: 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: son, Jerry Wasserman, grandsons, Eric Ford and Eli Wasserman, nephew, Wayne Delaney, sons-in-law, Paul Clark and Robert Hausafus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3 at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Rd, Barstow, California 92311. Burial will follow at Pomona Cemetery and Mausoleum in Pomona, California. The family of Daisy wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her doctor and staff of Kaiser Health Care, and all of the caregivers who helped fulfill Daisy's wishes to remain at home.
