Irma Ann (Ward) Watt, 92, of Heber Springs, passed away peacefully, joining her beloved husband, Dan and her first son, Gregory, on Sunday, January 28, 2018. She was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Clyde and Mary Oza Ward on May 9, 1925. Irma was a brilliant student at Hendrix College, graduating as salutatorian with a degree in mathematics in 1946. She taught school for several years, afterwards choosing a role as devoted wife and mother as her lifelong career. Irma's life was one of giving and of service. She had a strong love for God and her family, always putting both ahead of herself. She played organ at churches across the country for over 50 years; she served hundreds of Meals on Wheels and made hundreds of prayer shawls for those in need. Irma was an avid reader, and loved travelling, mostly to visit family and to see as much of the country as possible. She was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs. She is survived by four sons, Robert and his wife Linn of Massachusetts; Michael and his wife Ellen of Michigan; Steven and his wife Mary of Colorado; and David and his wife Teresa also of Colorado. She also leaves her grandchildren, Daniel Watt and his wife Katie, Sarah Watt, Jamie Watt, Christopher Watt, Alex Watt, Kate Dusto and her husband Ethan, Jackie Hendrickson; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Lucy Dusto; and her only sister, Mary Ruth Alderson of Jonesboro, Arkansas. A memorial service for Irma will be held on March 9, 2018 at 10:30am at First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Irma's name to her church. www.olmstead.cc.
