Justin Mathews Wallace

Justin Mathews Wallace, Sr., 87 of Gillett passed away March 1. He was born July 31, 1930 in Gillett to Leonard and Beulah Chadwick Wallace. Justin was a farmer and surveyor. He married Betty Hightower on May 7, 1954. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gillett and Gillett Hunting Club. He was a duck guide starting at the age 11, and was featured in Field and Stream magazine. He loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers Wilbur, Orville, Dick, Lloyd, and Charles Wallace; and four sisters Mary Imogene Richter, Elizabeth Hesser, Josephine Gordon, and Irene Beverburg. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Wallace; five children Justin Wallace, Jr., Brenda Keen, Patricia Matthews, Sarah Sloate, and Joy Wells; grand children Chris Wallace, Ryan Wallace, Taylor Wallace, Jaime DeBerry, Jordan Eason, Skylar Treece, Nathan Sloate, Hailey Sloate, Spencer Briggs, Madison Page, Ryan Wells, Chris Keen, and Corey Martone; great grandchildren Blakely Page, Carley Sloate, Rylee, Ryder, River, Greenlei, Marli Mae and Dylan Wallace, Preston, Allie, and Alivia Martone, Noah and Abraham Keen, Cassidee and Holden McGhee, and Harper McClain. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 5 at First Baptist Church in Gillett with the funeral following at 2:30. Burial will be in Gillett Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.
