Edward Eugene "Toby" Schulte
Edward Eugene "Toby" Schulte died March 4, 2018 peacefully at his home. He was born July 14, 1932 at home in McBride, MO. Ed was the youngest of 11 children born to Henry and Mary Elsie Schemel Schulte. Ed graduated from Perryville High where he played basketball and was quarterback for the football team. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served as plant manager at Franklin Electric in Jacksonville, Ark. before opening a staffing company in Little Rock in 1973. Schulte was the founding president of the Arkansas Staffing Association. His company was one of the founding companies of StaffMark Staffing when it became a public corporation. Ed was active at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in North Little Rock serving 2 terms as Senior Warden. He donated the Music and Education building at St. Luke's in memory of his late wife, Johnnie Trulove Schulte. He is a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.
Ed is preceded in death by his first wife, Johnnie Trulove Schulte; brothers, Henry "Jip" Jr., Jess, Melvin "Jack" and Calvin; sisters, Lyndola Hudson, Leona Hoffman, Dorothy Walls, Thelma Stark, Euline Schutte and stepson, Darrell Stevenson. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dona Stevenson Schulte; son, Steve Schulte (Bobbe); daughter, Karla Schulte; stepdaughter, Tonya Werner (Chris); grandchildren, James and Johnathan Schulte, David Sibley, Leah Toombs; step-grandchildren, Rilye Dillard, Gabrielle Beavers (Mitchell), Emily and Will Werner, Annabelle Beavers, Devin Patire; sister, Maxine Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Garden Room of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.
