Marguerite Alice (Snooks) Brownlee was born to Rettie Lee (McDaniel) and Virgil Samuel Simmons in 1922. The oldest of six siblings, they were early settlers near Dell, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Dallas Hugh Brownlee. She attended the University of Arkansas and Draughn Business College. She moved with her first husband, Joseph Garland Partin, to Raleigh, N.C. where they had two children; when Joe passed, she returned to her beloved Dell community and built a new life for her young family. She became the Dell Postmaster, a post she held for 43 years – on the day she retired, she was featured on the front page of the Arkansas Gazette. She was an active member of her community, serving on local and church boards. She was a multi-dimensional creative person, often expressed by the many hats she wore; she led a fondly-remembered Congo line at her 90th birthday party of guests wearing her hats! She loved dancing and had myriad hobbies, creating many family heirlooms. She was a gardener extraordinaire and she and Dallas spent many weekends tending their beautifully landscaped yard. She was famous, especially with her three grandchildren, for her fudge and chocolate pies! Her children are Marcia Partin (Atlanta), Larry Joe Partin (Little Rock) and Anita Carle Brownlee (Jonesboro). Snooks was much loved by family and friends. Her enthusiasm and curiosity and humor and love will be missed. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19th at 2 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
