Nathaniel Steward, 91, of Ft. Smith, died March 12, 2018. Born May 9, 1926 in Van Buren, Ark, he was the son of Leonard, Sr. and Malissa Brewer Steward. A veteran of World War II, he worked in construction, and later retired as chef at Broadway Grill Restaurant in Ft. Smith. He was a member of King Solomon Baptist Church of Ft. Smith. During his church career, he served as chairman of the Deacon Board for 50 years. He enjoyed reading his Bible and making sure others knew the Word. He loved his family. He was a connoisseur of good food and enjoyed watching westerns and sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marcy Lee Steward; son, Roy Stanley Steward, and 15 siblings. Survivors are his children, Brenda McCraw of Ft. Smith, Nathan Wayne Steward (Charlotte) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Beverly Williams of The Netherlands, Gloria Moore (Johnny) of Ft. Smith, Dr. Regina Gibson (Raymond) of Little Rock, Marilyn Moore-Roby (Robert) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Deborah Key of Ft. Washington, Maryland, Ruby Machelle Steward-Brown (Ronald) of North Little Rock, Marcy Steward of Ft. Smith, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1119 Division Street, Ft. Smith, Ark. 72904 with Rev. Stanley Whitmore officiating.
