L Karl Merkel

L. Karl Merkel, at age 76, entered into his eternal reward on March 22, 2018. Karl was born on July 13, 1941 as a fraternal twin of Kaye Merkel to Wanda and Lorenz Merkel, and sibling to his older brother, Charles, in Gas City, Ind. He leaves to cherish his memories, Sandy Merkel, his loving and devoted wife of 22 years; his children, Dean and Vicki; his daughter-in-law, Haruka; his son-in-law, Evan, his granddaughter, Kelsey; his stepdaughter, Tanya, along with her two children, Joshua and Sarah and their families. As a younger man, Karl loved all things about cars and also loved to go out dancing on the weekends. He always loved wildlife; so it was natural that during retirement, Karl gained an appreciation for hummingbirds as he had many gathered around the bird feeders that he and his wife, Sandy, carefully maintained. He will always be remembered for his weekly discussions about the Weather Channel and mowing his lawn as well.
