Rev. Elmer J. Whitbeck

Rev. Elmer J. Whitbeck, 92, of Sterling, Neb., passed away March 21, 2018. He was born January 1, 1926, in Underwood, Pa., to Frank Arthur and Elizabeth (Coates) Whitbeck. Rev. Whitbeck was a minister to many churches in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Kansas, and he served as a counselor at Back to the Bible Broadcast, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Lincoln Berean Church, a WWII U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the Marine Air Warning Squadron #11; a graduate of Nyack College with a THB degree; and an ordained conservative Baptist minister. Family members include his wife of 68 years, Mary Ruth Whitbeck; sons and spouses, Gordon (Bonnie Sue) Whitbeck, Robert (Wei) Whitbeck; daughters and spouses, Bonnie Ruth (Rev. Dean) Patterson, Robyn (Ed) Milligan, Esther (Matt) Stolz; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jeanne Whitbeck; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Frank and Merle.
