John A. Thornton

John A. Thornton departed this life on Wednesday, April 25 at St. John's Hospital. He was born June 10, 1946 in Damascus, Ark., the son of Essie Watson Thornton and William C.Thornton. He was united in marriage to Alleen Washington on July 31, 1982 in Springfield, Ill., and they enjoyed 35 loving years together. Family left to cherish his wonderful life include his beloved wife, Alleen, daughter, Lucretia DeShawn Barnes (Lithia Springs, Ga.); son, Jalany Thornton (Springfield); grandson, Bryson Greenwood; brothers, Samuel Smith (Russellville, Ark.); Kenneth Stout (Little Rock, Ark.); John Thornton; sisters, Parthenia Campbell Sims; Linda Givens (Melvin) both of Little Rock, Ark.; Belinda Kelly (Willie) (Kansas City , Mo.); and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. Funeral Services Thursday, May 3, 2018, Cathedral of Praise Christian Church, 2039 East Capital Avenue, Springfield, Ill. 62703. Visitation: 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Service: 11 a.m.-12 noon.
