Shirley Vashti Williams

Shirley Vashti Williams, born August 30th, 1949 in Malvern, Arkansas was peacefully called to heaven at midnight on April 28th, surrounded by her loved ones. Nicknamed Shir-baby, Shirley was known for her beautiful smile, free-spirited attitude, and signature eyeglasses. She was formerly a teacher at Shorter College and later retired from the Little Rock School District as an Administrative Assistant. Preceding her in death was her mother, Barbara Hempstead-Williams, father, Rev. L.R. Williams Sr., and sister, Doris W. Lawrence. She is survived by her only child, Courtney Shea Douglas-Thurman, son-in-law, Jeffrey L. Thurman, brother, Dr. Lee Williams Jr., and sisters, Joyce Slater and Rose Boykins. Celebration of life gathering will be held on May 5th, 2-4 p.m. at Watson-Northcrest Funeral Home, 1801 Maple, North Little Rock. 501-812-5303.
