James Foster Squier Sr.

James Foster Squier Sr., 63, of Snyder (Ashley County) passed away Saturday at his home. He was born February 21, 1955 in Easton, Maryland to the late Rex Daniel Sr. and Anna Mae Melvin Squier. He was a retired mechanic, working on the new Greenville Bridge and also worked for ten and a half years rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. James was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Rice, a grandson, Derek Micheal Nichols and three sisters, Dorothy Zebrowski, Doris Sands and Romayne Hallman. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Swann of Snyder, two sons, James Foster Squier Jr. (Crystal) and Joseph Daniel (J.D.) Squier (Joanne) both of Dover, Del.; two daughters, Barbara Ann Reynolds of Dover, Del., and Carolina Nichols (Craig) of Snyder; four brothers, Rexford Squier Jr. (Bootsy) of Goldsboro, Md., Robert Squier (Elaine) and Ronnie Squier (Patricia) all of Felton, Del., Benny Squier (Alfred) of Denton, Md. and four sisters, Helen Boyer of Elkton, Md., Betty Ann Holtz-Timmerman (Rand) of Syracuse, N.Y., Kathryn Phillips of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Eileen Naughton of Scranton, Pa. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tyler Lee Dunning, Sage Reynolds, Kaleb Nichols, Lisa Michelle Squier, Joseph Lane Rice and Luke Squier. Memorial Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Montrose Baptist Church in Montrose, with Bro. Larry Donaldson officiating. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
