Chester Donald Phillips age 84 of Little Rock, died Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born December 1, 1933 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the late Chester A. Phillips and Dorothy Tackett Phillips. He is preceded in death by a son, Frederick Sandford Phillips, and two sisters, Jacquita Greer and Joan Clemmons. Chester received bachelor degrees in Accounting and Engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was licensed as a professional engineer and real estate developer and was president of Phillips Development Corporation of Little Rock. Chester served on the Governor's Task Force on Affordable Housing and was vice president for the Council for Affordable and Rural Housing. He previously served as a board member of the Arkansas Repertory Theatre and St. Vincent Development Foundation Board. He was very active with the Wolfe Street Center and served as Capital Campaign Chair, making possible the historic move from 1210 Wolfe Street to 1015 Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He obtained a commercial pilot's license flying on business and pleasure. He has been a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church since 1961, serving on the vestry and as Junior Warden during the facility expansion. Besides flying Chester's passions included hunting and traveling with friends, Razorback football and racquetball. He is survived by two sons, Clark Preston Phillips and Douglas Stevenson Phillips; his beloved grandsons, Jack Stevenson Phillips and Nicholas McCray Phillips; nieces, Monica Welch Gray and Stacie Clemons Konvicka and her husband, Steven; and nephew, Matt Mitcham. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. officiated by The Reverends' Danny Schieffler and Michael McCain. Interment will follow in the columbarium garden. A reception will be held in the parish hall. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Wolfe Street Center or a charity of choice.
