MELVIN VESTER, 54 of Little Rock walked through the gates of Heaven on May 4, 2018. At an early age Melvin gave his life to Christ. He was a 1982 graduate of Fayette-Ware High School where he participated in basketball and baseball. Melvin worked as a truck driver until he started his career in law enforcement in 1987. In 1991 he relocated to Little Rock and became a police officer for Little Rock Police Department for 25 &1/2 years. Melvin was associated with the Regional National Black Police Association, Little Rock Black Police Officers Association, Fraternal Order Of Police, and Lincoln Lodge #19 Prince Hall Affilliated. He was an avid fisherman, cook and loved big cars. His motto was "He who has the most toys wins". He leaves loving memories to his wife of 5 years Sharon, mother: Rosie Vester, children: Chloe (Joseph) Peters, Crystal Vester, Marquise Williams, Sydney Vester, Symone Vester, and Xavier Marbury, 5 grandchildren, sisters: Doris Vester, Juanita Boyd, Almeta (Grady) Henderson, Barbara (Bennie) Benton, and Annie (Dominic) Curry, brothers: Robert (Carolyn) Vester, Robert Dale (Laverne) Boyd, Billie Joe Davis, Steven Davis, Hardy Davis, Tyrone Davis, Kevin Davis, and Edwin Davis, God daughters: Brianna and Tenley Lewis, mother in law: Yvonne Raines, in laws: Willie Raines Jr., and Sophia (John) Davis. Visitation May 17, 2018 5-7 pm. Homegoing celebration May 18, 2018 11:00 am both held at St. John Baptist Church 2501 Main Street Little Rock.
