Lauren Louie Wreyford, 85, passed away May 12, 2018. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Rose-Neath Chapel, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, La., 71101. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Williams of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the chapel prior to the service. Lauren was born in Nevada County, Arkansas, on February 24, 1933. He graduated from McNeil High School in 1951, attended Southern Arkansas University, and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1957 after earning a BS in Electrical Engineering. He was later honored by the University of Arkansas when he was named as a charter member of the Arkansas Academy of Electrical Engineering. After college, he worked for Southwestern Electric Power Company and in 1972, he formed Wreyford & Associates, Inc., a consulting engineering firm, where he enjoyed every day until his retirement. Upon retirement, he pursed his love of gardening and became a Master Gardner, serving the local community through volunteer work. He served as a deacon at Trinity Heights Baptist Church and served on the education committee for Trinity Heights Christian Academy, both of which brought great joy to his life. Later in life, one of his cherished accomplishments was his participation in Faith Evangelism at Broadmoor Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Cleo and Vera Etta Beasley Wreyford. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Otwell Wreyford; sons, Jeffrey L. Wreyford and wife Teresa, and Brian S. Wreyford; grandchildren, J. Blake Wreyford, Stewart S. Wreyford and wife Nikki, and Kathleen (Katie) E. Wreyford; and one great-grandchild, Alena B. Wreyford; brother, L. Gene Wreyford; sister, Anne W. Hughes and husband Richard; brothers-in-law, Gerald L. Otwell and wife Jan, and Dick Sutton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Gulledge B Group of Broadmoor Baptist Church and Dr. Scott E. Ritch. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff and residents of the memory care unit of Brookdale Assisted Living in Shreveport, and to the staff of Hospice of Shreveport Bossier.
