V.E. "Butch" Kilpatrick

V.E. "Butch" Kilpatrick Jr., the son of Virgil Elmo and Faye Belle Kilpatrick Sr., was born on October 5th, 1943 in Orange, Texas. Butch worked as a brakeman and conductor for the railroad for 38 years and retired at the age of 60. Butch was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Brinkley, Arkansas. Over several years he experienced many serious health challenges. As a result, he passed away at the age of 74, on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 at UAMS in Little Rock. Before falling ill, he enjoyed various mechanical work. One of his proudest moments was getting his old tractor running again. He was always "piddling" to repair whatever he could. Family was everything to Butch and he sought to care for them the best way possible. He had the biggest heart, and was one of the most loving, forgiving, and thoughtful people you could meet. If you were his friend, Butch considered you family. Butch is preceded in death by his father, mother, and his son - Jeff Kilpatrick. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years - Joan Kilpatrick, two sons - Ronnie Banks and Brad (Libby) Banks, two daughters - Kim (Chris) Joiner and Karen (Rowdy) Broadway, one brother - Jim (Judy) Kilpatrick, three sisters - Mary Weiler, Pat Massanelli, and Judy Houston, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, along with an extended Banks family and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26th, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Plant, Arkansas with visitation at 1 p.m. The family requests that memorials be made to Cotton Plant Cemetery in lieu of flowers.
