Billie Juanita (Nita) Cross, 86, formerly of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on May 25, 2018 in Gordonsville, Va. Nita was born in Memphis, Tenn., on August 25, 1931, to William and Inez Barns of Plainview, Ark. She graduated Ark. State Teachers College (UCA) with a Bachelor's degree in Education and Art. She later graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Master's degree in Special Education and was an Alumni of Mt. St. Mary's. Nita attended St. James Methodist Church in Little Rock. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association with over 36 years of teaching. Hobbies included membership in the Arkansas Dance Society, Rackensack Country Dance Society, and the Happy Hikers Club. She was also a Master Gardner. Nita is survived by daughter Linda Rogers and husband JD, of Louisa, Va.; daughter Catherine Schnebelen and husband John, of Cookeville, Tenn.; brother, William D. Barns, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 3 nephews, 6 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 8 great-granddaughters, and 5 great-grandsons. Pallbearers will be JD Rogers, John Schnebelen, John Schnebelen, Jr., Zachary Rogers, and Dogan Barns. Visitation will be at Little Rock Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 29th from 5-7pm. On Wednesday, May 30th, a funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home at 10:00am followed by a graveside service at 1:30pm at Salem Cemetery in Plainview, Ark.
