Tyler Nathaniel Finley

Tyler Nathaniel Finley, 40, of Fordyce died Thursday May 24, 2018 at his home. Born June 28, 1977 at Fordyce, he was a son of Joe and Barbara Finley of Fordyce. Tyler was a behavioral analyst in Colorado Springs, Colo., working with people with Acquired Brain Injuries before coming back to Fordyce to help care for his disabled brother. While in Fordyce, he volunteered in many community activities. He was a member of Fordyce First Baptist Church, where he enjoyed working in the Food Pantry and other church ministries. He was an honor graduate of Fordyce High School, where he played basketball and tennis, and French horn in the band. He also attended the Arkansas Governor's School and Boy's State during his high school years. Tyler attended Hendrix College in Conway and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. He loved to write and loved to think, and loved intense discussion in philosophy. He was very artistic. His paintings decorate his parents' home today. Cooking was one of his passions. He loved reading and studying his bible and journaling about his thoughts. He was kind hearted, almost to a fault, and was a friend to all. Tyler loved people and loved to visit. He loved his dog, Guinness. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jonathan Finley. He is survived by his parents, Joe and Barbara Finley of Fordyce; a brother, Brian Finley of Fordyce; a sister, Allison Stroud and her husband, Greg of Hoover, Ala.; a nephew Alex Stroud of Hoover, Ala.; two nieces, Gracie Finley of Benton, and Caroline Stroud of Hoover, Ala. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Fordyce with Rev. Rusty Ross and Rev. Eddie Raines officiating. Burial will follow at Freehouse Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Fordyce.
