Brenda Jean Black Matthews
Brenda Jean Black Matthews, 68, of Prince George, Va., born April 5th, 1950. Went home on May 20th, 2018.
Brenda Jean was born in Hot Springs, Ark. A graduate of Henry Bell High School In Gurdon, Ark. She served her country as a Specialist in the United States Army. Retired after 36 years of civil service for the Federal Government in Human Resources.
BJ was a active member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church Petersburg Virginia and a member of the American Legion Post No. 120 Disputana Virginia.
She is survived by her daughter, Ebony Matthews of Prince George, Va.; one sister, Linda Stern of Fayetteville, N.C.; one niece Selena Ellison of Little Rock, Ark.; one nephew Norith Ellison of Indianapolis, Ind.; God daughter Valerie Crow McDowell of Arlington, Texas; The Matthews Family of North Carolina and Extended family of Arkansas.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at 11:00am at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church 613 E Wythe St. Petersburg, Virginia. Rev. Eli Melvin Jr., Pastor officiating. A celebration of life will be held in Gurdon Arkansas June 30, 2018 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church at 11:00 am.
