Cecilia Raye Hesslen Peer, 65 year old resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, passed away on May 27, 2018 at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 13, 1952 in Bethesda, Maryland, to Cecil Ray Hesslen and Violet Louise (Gregory) Hesslen. Cecilia graduated from Northside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1970. She attended the University of Central Arkansas and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education in 1980. Cecilia married Charles Peer on August 3, 1984 and they lived in Van Buren, Arkansas for six years before moving to Siloam Springs. Having a passion and a gift for special education, she worked as a teacher for 35 years with the Van Buren, Siloam Springs, and Springdale School Districts. Cecilia was a member of First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs and P.E.O. Chapter T. She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Hesslen. She is survived by her husband, Charles Peer of the home; daughter, Jordan Peer Thomas and husband Harold of Siloam Springs; two grandsons, Collier, and Remington; granddaughter, Londan; father, Cecil Hesslen and wife MaryAnn of Van Buren; sister, Sharon Burns and companion Bill King of Van Buren; brother, Buddy Hesslen and wife Leanna of Van Buren; three nephews and two nieces. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Siloam Springs, with Dr. Larry Dodgen and Pastor Manny Anchondo officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
