Frances Elizabeth (Hank) Morgan Holderfield, 92, of Hot Springs, formerly of Rison, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Hot Springs. The eighth of nine children, she was born May 30, 1925, in Jersey, Arkansas, to James and Annie Johnson. Growing up in a large family, she learned at an early age how to cook, a passion she enjoyed all of her life and one of the many things for which she will be remembered. Frances graduated from Hermitage High School and attended Hendrix College. After marrying J.B. Morgan, she moved to Rison, where she raised her two sons, Jim and Randy, and eventually went to work for the Department of Agriculture, a job she held for over 25 years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Rison and then the First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs. Frances was very proud of her heritage and the fact that her family was the first tomato farmers in Bradley County. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Beckham Morgan in 1976, and husband Dale Holderfield in 2003, six brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lee of Warren, two sons, James Thomas (Amanda) Morgan and Randall Beckham (Mary) Morgan, both of Hot Springs, a step-daughter, Betsy Holderfield of Fayetteville, a step-son, Scotty (Debbie) Holderfield of Rison, five grandchildren—Shane (Laura) Morgan of Cushing, Oklahoma, Ellen (Matt) Hillis of Fayetteville, Tyler (Liz) Morgan of Benton, Matt (Katrina) Morgan of Phoenix, Arizona, and Allison Morgan of St. Petersburg, Florida, three step-grandchildren—Zach (Collin) Holderfield of Fayetteville, Mac (Mindi) Holderfield of Old Towne, Maine, and Amanda (Lance) Brown of Fayetteville—six great-grandchildren, five great-step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 1-2 p.m. with the funeral following at 2 p.m. at Rison United Methodist Church in Rison, with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Rison.
