Charles Houston Callahan, 92, of Benton, passed away on May 29, 2018. He was born April 12, 1926 in Traskwood to the late John "Orb" and Elberta Ogle Callahan. Charles served in the United States Navy during World War II, was a 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite for 50 years, retired from ETMF and ABF as a truck driver for 34 years, volunteered at the Benton Senior Center, employed by Reynolds and was a member of Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Granville "Buddy" Callahan and Johnny Callahan. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Violet Novalene Callahan, daughters, Dianna (Ronnie) Griffith of Arlington, Texas, Sheila (Dan) Harris of Hot Springs, Debra (Bob) Ramsey of Benton and Sherry (Terry) Parsons of Benton, brother, James "Tub" (Kaye) Callahan of Benton, sisters, Dorothy Cunningham of Traskwood, Jo Ella (Jerry) Skinner of Malvern and Lavoye Clift of Traskwood, grandchildren, Garth Griffith, Seth Griffith, Jennifer Ramsey, Jayme Ramsey Barker, Greg Harris, Dana Harris Everett, Dustin Parsons and Layne Parsons; great-grandchildren, Adison, Bella, Lexi, Shelby, Kinlee, Ethan, Houston, Easton, Blake, Tucker, Layla, Grace, Charlie and Calvin. Pallbearers will be Garth Griffith, Seth Griffith, Greg Harris, Dustin Parsons, Layne Parsons, Shannon Everett and Zach Barker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Dale McClain, Rita Spainhour, Lawrence Salvage and Larry Callahan. Church services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow at Fairplay Cemetery.
