Richard B. Shell of Sherwood, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 8, 2018. He was born November 4, 1928, in Little Rock to the late Dan and Lucy Shell. The eldest of 5 children, he was always known as a hard worker and helped support the family at an early age. He graduated from Little Rock High School, where he was a member of the 1946 National Champion Football Team. Richard married Helen Harper on December 23, 1950. Richard was a Lifetime member of the UA 155 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, where he served as Local President twice. Much of his career was spent in construction management for large projects in various parts of the U.S. Richard was also a member of the Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was devoted to his family, his friends and his faith. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Shell, his oldest son, Steven Shell, two sisters, Lena Shell and Pat Sanderlin, and his brother, Daniel Shell. Richard will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his brother, Edward Shell of Atlanta; his son, David Shell of Little Rock; his daughter-in-law, Jodi Shell of Alexander; and his grandchildren – Katherine Benson (husband – Floyd Benson) of Southaven, Miss. and Matthew Shell of Little Rock. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, and a funeral service on Monday, October 15, at 10 a.m, both at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock.
