Richard "Dick" Rechtin

Richard "Dick" Clarence Rechtin, 89, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 with his family at his side. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Joan (Bare) Rechtin; his sister, June Fernandez; his daughter, Julie Williams; his son Mark Rechtin and his wife Tammy; and six wonderful grandchildren, Jake, Sarah, Michael, Pierce, Garrett and Anna. Dick was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son or Clarence and Catherine (Kues) Rechtin. After graduating from Western Hills high school, he attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Business in 1952. It was at UC where he first met Joan driving home in a snowstorm. They were married in 1952 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Dick joined the Kroger company where he worked for 20 years. Kroger brought Dick and Joan to Little Rock in 1963 where he held his favorite position with Kroger, Head Meat Merchandiser for the Little Rock division. Shortly after leaving Kroger, he started his own business, Mark VII, a food brokerage which he successfully operated in Little Rock for the next 21 years. Dick was a highly ethical and hardworking entrepreneur providing employment for over a dozen people at the peak of his business in the early 1990s. Dick dearly loved his friends and family, had a nickname for everyone he loved, had a great sense of humor, and was an avid golfer. He will be greatly missed. Dick's body will be available for viewing at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock on Thursday, September 6th from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fayetteville on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. A graveside burial service will also be held in Little Rock at Mt. Holly Cemetery on Broadway Street on Saturday, September 8th at Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
