#4 Nerds | That there are two complementary flavors add to the fun of these little nuggets of sugar. We love the packaging, for there is a rather Pavlovian response when we hear the box shaking in that we drool uncontrollably from our open mouths. We pick these over Skittles for the box alone.

#3 Hershey's Miniatures | Or hey, why not full-sized? But really, we can't get enough of this mixture of chocolate bars, each with its own virtues. Mr. Goodbar is tops in our book, but people polled seemed to like them all, down to the Special Dark chocolate.

When it comes down to it, Halloween isn't about the pumpkin carving or the costumes or haunted houses. It's the candy, which we've attempted to rank in a 10-item Halloween haul list. We've left suckers and hard candy off, because surely people don't give those out anymore, right? Right? Well, we tried, kids.

#7 Bubble gum | It's not that we don't love gum, but it doesn't exactly play nice with other candy when you look at the big picture. And the kind that shows up in the proverbial pillowcase has a chew life of maybe 5 minutes, if it isn't already stale.

#1 Candy Corn | Maybe it's the exclusivity of candy corn that draws everyone to this tri-colored treat (Well, before the abominations that are other-holiday-themed candy corn hit the market). That it's here for a limited time only certainly ups the attraction, but it wouldn't be No. 1 if it didn't taste good. And we can't get enough of the sweet, creamy niblets and their pumpkin counterparts. And the best part? They are fat free. So eat up, but save room for your other treats!
