Description

Mr. Hunter's Southern Cooking, in the four-eatery groundfloor food court at North Little Rock's McCain Mall, does a pretty good job with fried foods. Just about everything's made to order, so you know you're not getting soggy, sit-around catfish. But they are a little heavy-handed with the salt shaker. Mr. Hunter's is also known as Mr. Hunter's Catfish (they've been advertising under that name and that's apparently the name of their catering operation), and it does catfish pretty well; moist fish inside a firm cornmeal-batter crust. Ours were just a whisker on the salty side. Dinners, one ($5.99), two ($8.75) and three pieces ($11.75) come with a couple of mildtasting cornmeal hush puppies and choice of two side items - baked beans, fries, coleslaw, potato salad, fried okra (those are the ones listed on the menu board), onion rings, loaded mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese (we only found out about those afterward by looking at the ad in a free publication).
