Under Conque's guidance, the Bears have successfully made the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I FCS. In 2006 their first Division I season, the Bears exceeded expectations with an 8-3 record and finished the season ranked in the Top 25. They followed it up in 2007 by finishing in a second-place tie in the tough Southland Conference in their first full year in the league. Their final game of the season against undeafeated McNeese State on the road was for a chance at a co-SLC championship.

You will have to overcome an “obstacle” (obstacles in the past have been tire obstacle, human maze, giant hay bales along the way, and then finish with a spectacular frolic through the world-renowned 300-foot mud pit (affectionately know as “The Pit”) filled with rich Arkansas mud.

H1N1 vaccine at Fair Park Early Childhood Center
The Little Rock School District is kicking off a series of flu vaccination clinics to be held around the district. This first clinic is for the 3 and 4 year olds at Fair Park.This is for seasonal and H1N1 flu. Other clinics later in the month will be open to parents and siblings of LRSD students. This Fair Park clinic is one of the first, if not the first, of many to be held in a public schools around the state.
Prescription Drug Abuse Awareness
Mayor Mark Stodola is joining the U.S. Conference of Mayors in its efforts to raise awareness about prescription drug abuse. Every day, more than 2,500 teenagers abuse prescription medication for the first time. Mayor Stodola joined professors and students from the UAMS College of Pharmacy as well as members of the Mayor’s Youth Council to talk about this growing concern.
