HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas (September 1, 2009) The ring of the back-to- school bell does not mean all is quiet at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls - Arkansas' favorite family fun theme and water park. Weekends offer you the best chance yet to re-discover what the park has to offer. The good times are back again at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls. Guests who have visited the park in August are pleased with the new eco-friendly landscape designs, and overall cleanliness, but, most importantly, the attractions they come to enjoy are back and better than ever. "The team at Magic Springs is one of the most dedicated in the country and I congratulate them on their efforts. Giving new life to the Arkansas Twister and many of the other rides in the park has been a tremendous cause for celebration," says Randal H. Drew, CEO of PARC Management. "Since acquiring the park late last year, our team has been focused on delivering a renewed commitment to operational excellence." The 50 mph classic wooden coaster, Arkansas Twister made its 2009 debut on August 1, joining a number of other park rides that have been refurbished for the season. Other high-flying coaster fun can be found with the favorites Gauntlet, Big Bad John and Twist 'n' Shout. Thrill rides with a different twist are Wild Thang, Hawk, Dr. Dean's Rocket Machine and Plummet Summit. X- Coaster will be back in 2010. A "first" for the park will be welcoming the 28th Annual Colgate Country Showdown to Timberwood Amphitheater. On Saturday, September 5, starting at noon, 10 local acts will perform for the chance to move on in the national competition. The annual Colgate Country Showdown is designed to find the most promising country music talent in America and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional music careers. Admission to the Colgate Country Showdown is free with paid admission into the park. "We are thrilled to host a portion of the largest talent competition in the country," says Dana Whisenhunt, Promotions Manager for Magic Springs & Crystal Falls. "Timberwood is a wonderful facility and the perfect place to cheer on our local acts as they perform to make their dreams come true." Singing turns to "screaming" in October as the popular month-long Magic Screams Halloween event takes over the park transforming pavilions to haunted mansions and common spaces to spooky places. The trails of Magic Springs wind throughout the park with creepy creatures and ghostly tricksters at every turn. Activities for small children include the Pumpkin Patch Club and a trick or treat trail will be available during the day with scarier haunts taking place at night. Teens can look forward to the "Thriller" Street Dances each Saturday night. Magic Springs' special hours for Magic Screams will be Noon 11pm on Saturdays and Noon 8pm on Sundays. November 1st will be the last operating day of the year for the park. Now is the best time to grab a great admission price with the Play Like a Kid, discount available online, plus the best deals for 2010 season passes go on sale in October.
