Police: Angry about drug, man rips out jail camera

— A man accused of shooting a Henderson State University football player tore down a security camera in a fit of rage after jailers gave him a generic painkiller instead of the brand he wanted, authorities said Tuesday.

Andrew Robinson, 22, of Arkadelphia, who is being held on a charge of attempted first-degree murder in the Dec. 5 shooting of Louis West, now faces two additional charges.

"He was given generic medicine instead of the name brand medicine," said Chief Deputy Tim Patterson of the Clark County sheriff 's office. "I kid you not."

Robinson, a 6-foot-tall, 275-pound man, tossed a blanket around the camera in a common area and yanked it down, tearing the equipment from the wall Dec. 9, Patterson said.

Jailers were unsure how much repairs would cost. Robinson is taking pain medicine because he shot himself in the arm during the scuffle for the handgun during the attack on West, Patterson said.

Robinson now faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief and a felony charge of impairing the operation of a vital public facility.

He turned himself in to the sheriff's office after two other men were arrested in the shooting of West.

Police said Robinson, Guyronne Buckley, 23, and BrianCarter, 21, both of Arkadelphia, ambushed West in the restroom of the Arkadelphia Country Club. Police said Robinson was the gunman.

West, an offensive lineman, was released from a hospital with a bullet lodged in his back but is still expected to play in the Cactus Bowl on Jan. 9.

Another Henderson student, LaKendrick Evans, 20, also was shot and injured in the altercation, arrest records said.
