The Bob Boyd Sounds performs at 8 p.m. Friday in Little Rock's Ron Robinson Theater. The show is part of the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies' Arkansas Sounds series. Admission is free.
The quartet -- Bob Boyd on piano and vocals; David Higginbotham on string bass and lead vocals, Sim Flora on trombone, flute and vocals and Randy McDonald on drums and vocals -- will perform holiday favorites and original compositions from their Sounds Like Christmas album.

The ensemble, which performs Afro-Cuban, salsa and Brazilian sounds, includes singer Claudia Acuna, percussionist Chembo Corniel, flutist Nestor Torres, pianist Ello Villa Franca, bassist Richardo Rodriguez and drummer Diego Lopez.
Acuna, a native of Chile, released her debut album, Wind From the South, in 1999 on Verve Records, followed by Rhythm of Life (2001), Luna (2004) and En Este Momento (2009).
The All Stars have performed, together or separately, with Paul Simon, Celia Cruz and Dizzy Gillespie. Their show is the second in the series of four concerts in the 2017-18 Jazz Series sponsored by Oxford American magazine.
Tyler Kinchen & the Right Pieces, with the Matt Schotz Trio, perform at 9 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $15.

The band of six siblings, named for their grandmother and led by singer Annie Wolaver, released a debut album, Eden, in 2005, following it with 11 more CDs, the latest of which, The Art of the Love Song, came out in 2016. The group released Christmas CDs in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2013.
