North Little Rock police: 3 children tell officer that great-aunt abused, threatened to hang them

Three children who were in the custody of their great-aunt while their mother was in jail told North Little Rock authorities that the relative abused and threatened to kill them, according to a report.

Officers were called to a home on Richards Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday.

A 33-year-old woman told police that she had given her three daughters — ages 11, 6 , and 1 — to her aunt while she was in jail starting Sept. 8. The mother said she regained custody Friday.

According to a report from the city's Police Department, one girl said the 56-year-old had "slammed her in a door" and choked her. Another said the woman dragged her on the floor by her hair and punched her in the mouth, the report states.

An officer noted scratches on one of the children's arms. According to one of the girls, their great-aunt had said that "She was gonna take all of us and hang us by a noose and kill us."

The North Little Rock woman listed as a suspect on the report did not appear on the Pulaski County jail roster as of Wednesday morning.
