William E. Evans, 84, of Cabot, passed away December 12, 2010. Mr. Evans, son of the late Claude and Annie Skipper Evans, was born March 9, 1926 in Solgohachia, Arkansas. Mr. Evans was a three war combat veteran serving in the Pacific Campaign of World War II as a member of the U.S. Army and then later served in the Korean War and Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Navy. A man of strength, courage and love, we hold in respect all you went through in your life to give to your family, your friends and your country. You blessed our lives with your unconditional love, your strength of spirit, and your courage, leaving us with a deep admiration for the man you were. Your memory shines in us all and we will always carry you with us in our hearts and our minds. Remembering all you taught us by your life and endeavoring to instill in our children the integrity, strength of spirit and the love of life and family that you taught us. He is survived by his wife, Billie (Welsh) Evans, with who he had been married to for 63 years. He is also survived by two sons, Eddie Evans of Fillmore, California and Paul Evans of Sherwood; one daughter, Jealene Smith of Cabot; two sisters, Florene Owens of Cabot and Ida Mae Marvin of Tyler, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Thursday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
