Wanda Faye Jones, 61, of North Little Rock passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010. She was born in Little Rock to the late Hoyt and Marcella Durnie Williams. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist. Wanda was a Librarian for 29 years. She retired from North Pulaski High School. After retirement she and husband, Bob collaborated to create framed poetry and photography exhibits. Her poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction frequently won awards in literary magazines and anthologies. She enjoyed presenting poetry readings and workshops. Wanda Faye felt poetry was essential for living creatively with cancer, and writing allowed her to have an excellent quality of life. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She won numerous writing awards including 2010 Creekwalker Poetry Prize. She was a member of Central Arkansas, Penpoint Writer Group, Poets Roundtable of Arkansas, and Poetry Societies of Oklahoma, Missouri and Alabama. She was also a member of SPRTA, AEA, NEA, ARTA, and the Hays Center Red Hat Society. Wanda Faye was a published writer; her book "Erasing People" contains a collection of Chemo Poems. Her love for poetry and writing was very comforting to her through out the years. She is survived by her husband, Robert D Jones; one sister, Barbara Jean McKinney and husband, Carroll C; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Park Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Luke Flesher officiating. Interment will follow at Walters Chapel.
