Dr. Charles Olin Strong, age 85, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, April 17, 2011, in a Little Rock, Arkansas hospital. Dr. Strong was born October 14, 1925, in Welcome, Arkansas, and had lived in Texarkana since 1967. He held a Doctorate of Theology; was a retired Minister and Educator, having served several churches in Arkansas and Texas; former Professor and Chairman of the English Department of Central Baptist College; former Editor of Publications for the Baptist Missionary Association of America; and member of Central Baptist Church,Texarkana, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Strong. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Uriel Johnson and Kathy and Russell Griffin of Benton, Ark., and Lyn and Ron Stephens of Texarkana, Texas, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Jack Bloxom of Conway, Ark. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Central Baptist Church, Texarkana, Arkansas with Rev. David Watkins officiating. Graveside services will be at 2p.m., Wednesday at the Welcome Cemetery near Springhill, Louisiana. Services and burial are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday.
