Joyce Fincher Wilson

Joyce Fincher Wilson was born in Amity, Arkansas December 21, 1927 and died in Oklahoma City, Okla,. July 31, 2011. She was the daughter of Fayette Fincher and Alsia Hunter Fincher. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, John Karber III and Greg Karber and one stepdaughter, Emilie Wilson Roggio. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Ralph C. Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla., three sons, Stan Karber, currently of Oklahoma City, Okla., Phil Karber (Joellen Lambiotte) of Cambridge, Mass., and Kent Karber (Jenny) of Colorado Springs, Colo., five stepsons, Forrest Wilson of Atlanta, Ga., Fred Wilson of Little Rock, Ark., Jimmy and Patrick Wilson of Nashville, Ark. and Tony Wilson of Norman, Okla., three stepdaughters, Frances Wilson of Loveland, Colo., Roberta Teeter and Loretta Watts of Nashville, Ark., four sisters, Martha Adams of Amity, Ark., Melba Gunta (Steve) of Glenwood, Ark., Jo Dobson and Trudy Walker (Loyd) of Little Rock, Ark., two brothers, John Fincher (Hildred) of Little Rock, Ark. and Charles Fincher (Jacque) of Oklahoma City, Okla., 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Joyce attended Henderson State Teachers College and the University of Arkansas. She was an artist who studied with several teachers, including Shirley Conner and Cletus Smith. She enjoyed painting with her sister, Jo, in places such as San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and the village of Port Clyde, Maine. Joyce and Ralph were avid world travelers. Her favorite place was Antarctica, having made three trips there. She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. To those who loved her she was a woman of great style, talent, wit, intelligence, discipline, and most of all "pluck". It can be said, "We loved her well; she was not ours to keep." A Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Jones Cemetery in Amity, Arkansas.
